The First Thursday Artwalk Tour: This month – new artists in town, galleries with rotating exhibits, and artists that have been part of the Arts District for years. Each month the tour lasts about one hour and visits different artists and galleries, providing an overview and introduction to San Pedro’s lively Arts District. The tour begins at 6:30 in the Chamber of Commerce Board Room Gallery. The current artist is Kohijiro Kinno , a photographer based in Southern California. While not shooting sports related images for editorial and corporate clients, he surfs, in the ocean near his home and practices kendo in the evening.
Local artist Lórien Eck will be showcasing her fine art at Gallery 381 (7th St.), “Swimming Into Starlight” – will feature a selection of paintings from her Collections—Earth Above/Earth Below, Cosmic, and The Elements—all mixed-media paintings inspired by our environment, water preservation and the cosmos. Capturing a sense of the planet’s majestic beauty with her vivid colors and bold brush-work, Eck has created a powerful combination of inner and outer landscapes that guide the viewer into a deep reflection. A long-time advocate for environmental justice, her work is more vital than ever before with the current challenges that befall our Earth.
