Armchair ArtWalk Tour on FirstThursday, May 7th, 6:30pm
The San Pedro Waterfront Arts District, in collaboration with the EngAGE at the Pacific Avenue Arts Colony (www.engagedaging.org) and a selection of San Pedro artists, announces the first ever Armchair ArtWalk Tour to be held on Zoom at 6:30pm on FirstThursday May 7th, 2020.

This is a free service for our community – we miss you and look forward to seeing you on Zoom, sponsored by Engage at the Pacific Avenue Arts Colony at 4th and Pacific. In this time of the COVID-19 quarantine and social distancing, the Armchair ArtWalk Tour is an innovative way to visit with the arts of San Pedro on First Thursday. We hope you, your friends and family are staying safe and sane during this very weird time?
In addition, the Arts District is worried about the small restaurants and non-profit businesses. For every $50 donated to the Arts District, the donor gets a $25 Gift Certificate from participating restaurants for take-away food or art or theatre tickets. When the Pay It Forward Gift Certificate is used, the participating business will invoice the Arts District for reimbursement. The resulting $25 donation will be used to support public art projects such as storm drain art, DOT Box Repair and the Adventures in Public Art mural at the NationalWatercolor Society.

San Pedro is home to over 90 visual artists, as well as 3 performing arts venues, art galleries and restaurants. The Arts District is anchored by the Warner Grand Theatre, a 1,500-seat historic art deco movie palace, the Little Fish Theatre, presenting repertory theater in a converted garage, the Grand Annex (a project of the Grand Vision Foundation), and the Loft Studios, a three-story warehouse with a concentration of fine artists. The Arts District’s streets are lined with artists’ live/workspaces and each month they open their doors to the
FirstThursday ArtWalk, in operation since 1997. In 2017, San Pedro was designated as one of 14 California Cultural Districts by the Sacramento based California Arts Council.
The San Pedro Waterfront Arts District believes that public art is a vital way to make art accessible and commissioned professional artists to paint 25 DOT utility boxes throughout San Pedro, along with two wall murals in the downtown core. In June 2019, the Arts District launched Adventures in Public Art – a six week mural workshop program, designed to engage participants in public art projects, become more astute
