The National Watercolor Society will be exhibiting it’s 2018 NWS Annual Member Exhibition. Dates: May 3rd – June 24th, 2018

“In May we continue the year long celebration of the 20th anniversary of the First Thursday Artwalk. The free Artwalk Tour usually gives a one hour sample of the diverse art scene in San Pedro, visiting about 3 galleries/studios – different each month. The tour gathers at 6:30 in the Chamber of Commerce Board Room Gallery.
This month’s tour will probably be more than an hour. Lots to see and artists to meet! Wear your walking shoes.

The Board Room Gallery will host the Opening Reception for Charlotte Strauss.
“I love working in oils because of the depth and richness of color that can be achieved. I build my paintings with layers of color until I feel I have captured the essence of the subjects. I enjoy the creative process and every work is a new adventure and learning experience.” The artist lives in Colorado and is a member of the International Guild of Realism.

Transvagrant and Gallery 478 features “Uncompliant Acts: The Public Stage”, photographs by Anthony Friedkin. Anthony Friedkin’s entire oeuvre can accurately be described as a pursuit of the authentic. His topics include phenomena such as surf culture, prisons, cinema, gay culture, and, most currently, the art of urban streets. In Uncompliant Acts, the artist shares his appreciation for these unique works, often uncontrolled, unexpected, and unnamed attacks on societal structures and norms, urging the viewer to re-evaluate our urban surrounds and discover the art hidden in plain sight.
The National Watercolor Society’s Annual Member 2018 Exhibition is a juried show that presents about 90 paintings from artists all over the world.

Gallery Azul presents “San Pedro: Above & Below” with Long Beach artist Robyn Feeley. Robyn visits iconic areas above San Pedro accompanied by a little blue seal, while also visiting some rather interesting sea creatures down below. In this new show, she manages to create and blur the lines of reality, in her rather unconventional, yet signature style. She is proud to present her first one woman show with gallery owners Ray & Cora Vasquez.

And for dessert, you can visit the unique Art Deco Loft. George Woytovich and Patti Kraakevik live in a former Montgomery Ward department store on Pacific Avenue in San Pedro, which they transformed into an eccentric multi-level art gallery and performance venue filled with art deco collectibles.”
